In vitrohematotoxicity ofVernonanthura polyanthesleaf aqueous extract and its fractions

Jamira Dias Rocha et al.

Summary: Vernonanthura polyanthes, popularly known as 'assa-peixe', is widely used in Brazil for treating respiratory tract problems. This study investigated the chemical safety and cytogenotoxic potential of the plant. The results showed that the plant extract and its fractions had cytotoxic and genotoxic effects on human erythrocytes and lymphocytes. Additionally, the extract and fractions enhanced the cytotoxicity of a known cytotoxic drug while reducing its genotoxicity.

Nanomaterials induce different levels of oxidative stress, depending on the used model system: Comparison of in vitro and in vivo effects

Isabel Karkossa et al.

Summary: The study compared the effects of NMs in vitro and in vivo, and found that the MoAs of NMs depend on the model system used. In vivo, pathways related to inflammation were more affected than oxidative stress responses. However, the overall classification of active and passive NMs was consistent in vitro and in vivo.

Summary: This study investigated the in vivo genotoxic effects of rats orally exposed to different doses of ST-99 and found no genotoxicity in the cells isolated from stomach, liver, and blood. Analytical studies confirmed the presence of stilbenes and their metabolites in plasma and tissues, supporting the safety profile of ST-99 for potential application as a preservative in the wine industry.

Chlorogenic Acid Enhances Doxorubicin-Mediated Cytotoxic Effect in Osteosarcoma Cells

Alessia Salzillo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the synergistic effects of chlorogenic acid (CGA) and doxorubicin (Doxo) in osteosarcoma cells. The results showed that CGA enhanced the therapeutic effect of Doxo, increased cell death rate, and had a protective effect on heart cells. The study also found that the p44/42 MAPK pathway may play an important role in CGA increasing susceptibility to Doxo.

Summary: The in vivo pulmonary toxicity of several variants of aSiO(2) NM was investigated, with findings showing increased DNA damage in rat lung cells but no marked in vivo toxicity. Genotoxicity was observed in both instillation and STIS studies, with changes in STIS animals appearing more difficult to revert.

Summary: The study found that CAE and its fractions from VC can significantly reverse cisplatin-induced renal damage without compromising its anticancer effect. Additionally, the group treated with CAE showed a significantly higher percentage increase in life span compared to the cisplatin alone treated group.
