SiO2 based nanocomposite for simultaneous magnetic removal and discrimination of small pollutants in water

Simona Bettini et al.

Summary: A nanocomposite adsorbent material was synthesized to efficiently remove aromatic analytes dissolved in water through chemical adsorption. The nanocomposite consists of a magnetic iron oxide core coated with SiO2 and can achieve a removal efficiency of up to 93% for certain pollutants. Additionally, the material was decorated with plasmonic Ag nanoparticles to enhance surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) signals for further pollutant discrimination.

Magnetic-plasmonic Ni nanotubes covered with gold for improvement of SERS analysis

Ilya Korolkov et al.

Summary: The paper describes the synthesis of a substrate for surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) using magnetic nickel nanotubes (Ni NTs) and its application in quantitative analysis of organic molecules. The success of the substrate is achieved by depositing a gold layer on the Ni NTs and the purity and uniformity of the gold layer are confirmed through various analysis methods. The study shows that the magnetic properties of the obtained magnetic Ni-Au NTs remain unchanged compared to the initial Ni nanotubes, and the substrates exhibit high SERS enhancement efficiency.

Magnetic iron oxide cores with attached gold nanostructures coated with a layer of silica: An easily, homogeneously deposited new nanomaterial for surface-enhanced Raman scattering measurements

Aleksandra Michalowska et al.

Summary: This article presents the use of nanostructures made of magnetic cores (Fe3O4) and attached smaller plasmonic (Au) nanostructures covered with a thin layer of silica for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) measurements. The (Fe3O4@Au)@SiO2 nanoparticles are highly efficient substrates for SERS and can be easily manipulated using a magnetic field. The synthesized nanostructures have been used for the SERS detection of penicillin G in milk.

Rapid and ultrasensitive surface enhanced Raman scattering detection of hexavalent chromium using magnetic Fe3O4/ZrO2 /Ag composite microsphere substrates

Xin-Yue Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the rapid detection of hexavalent chromium (Cr (VI)) in water using sensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates made of magnetic Fe3O4/ZrO2/Ag composite microspheres. The composite microspheres exhibited excellent SERS activity, adjustable sensitivity, and good linear relationship with low detection limit. They also showed outstanding signal reproducibility and storage stability, indicating promising application prospects for SERS analysis of environmental pollutants.

Fe3O4-protected gold nanoparticles: New plasmonic-magnetic nanomaterial for Raman analysis of surfaces

Aleksandra Michalowska et al.

Summary: The study introduces the application of core-shell nanoparticles for SHINERS analysis, with Au@Fe3O4 nanoparticles effectively enhancing Raman scattering efficiency. The method of homogeneous deposition of Au@Fe3O4 nanoresonators on surfaces with different densities is demonstrated. The unique properties of these nanoparticles make them a promising material for SHINERS.
