Adsorption and Removal of Thymol from Water Using a Zeolite Imidazolate Framework-8 Nanomaterial

Deepak Ganta et al.

Summary: This study aimed to enhance the adsorption capacity of existing materials for thymol removal from water, utilizing a porous ZIF-8 nanomaterial which achieved a maximum adsorption capacity of 454.6 mg/g. Experimental results indicated that the adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo-first-order model.

Modulation of the Thermochemical Stability and Adsorptive Properties of MOF-808 by the Selection of Non-structural Ligands

Erlend Aunan et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are attractive materials for various fields due to their porous and crystalline nature, but their thermal stability is crucial for industrial applications. This article introduces a method to thermally stabilize MOF-808 by incorporating benzoate moieties through post-synthetic functionalization, and discusses how this affects the physicochemical properties of the MOFs. The materials described provide new options for the design of stable catalysts and adsorbents for future technologies.

HIV-1 Tat and Heparan Sulfate Proteoglycans Orchestrate the Setup of in Cis and in Trans Cell-Surface Interactions Functional to Lymphocyte Trans-Endothelial Migration

Chiara Urbinati et al.

Summary: Extracellular Tat released by HIV-infected cells engages with syndecan-1 on lymphocytes, triggering simultaneous activation of lymphocytes and endothelial cells. This two-way activation leads to lymphocyte adhesion, increased endothelial permeabilization, and enhanced extravasation of Tat-presenting lymphocytes. Activation of syndecan-1, integrins, FAK, src, and ERK1/2 in lymphocytes, as well as VEGFR2, integrin, src, and ERK1/2 in endothelium, is crucial in this process.

Reduced Graphene Oxide-Cadmium Sulfiide Quantum Dots Nanocomposite Based Dispersive Solid Phase Microextraction for Ultra-Trace Determination of Carbamazepine and Phenobarbital

Ali Shafiiee et al.

Summary: This study introduced a fast, sensitive, and selective ultrasound-assisted dispersive solid phase microextraction technique for the simultaneous preconcentration and determination of ultra-trace amounts of carbamazepine and phenobarbital. The method utilized reduced graphene oxide sheets decorated with cadmium sulfide quantum dots as a high capacity adsorbent, and high performance liquid chromatography with UV detector for analysis. The efficiency of the method was evaluated through testing on various real samples, showing satisfactory recoveries.
