Effects of Erythrodiol on the Antioxidant Response and Proteome of HepG2 Cells

Juan Luis Penas-Fuentes et al.

Summary: This study characterized the cytotoxic effects of erythrodiol (EO) on human hepatocarcinoma cells. EO decreased cell viability and antioxidant defense systems, impaired important metabolic processes and nuclear transport, but induced AMP biosynthesis and cell cycle G2/M phase transition.

Betulinic Acid Modulates the Expression of HSPA and Activates Apoptosis in Two Cell Lines of Human Colorectal Cancer

Laphatrada Yurasakpong et al.

Summary: Betulinic acid (BA) has been shown to inhibit human colorectal cancer cells and increase cell apoptosis, affecting the expression of pro-apoptotic and anti-apoptotic markers. Additionally, BA treatment fluctuates the expression of HSPA, potentially binding to the nucleotide binding domain of HSP70. These findings suggest that BA may serve as a promising candidate for the development of new treatments for colorectal cancer.

Luteolin Inhibits Breast Cancer Stemness and Enhances Chemosensitivity through the Nrf2-Mediated Pathway

Kuen-Jang Tsai et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that luteolin can inhibit the stemness of breast CSCs by downregulating the expression of Nrf2, and enhanced cytotoxicity to breast cancer cells when used in combination with the chemotherapeutic drug Taxol. Luteolin could be a potential agent for cancer stemness-targeted breast cancer treatments.

Synthesis and Biological Activity of Triterpene-Coumarin Conjugates

Karina Vega-Granados et al.

Summary: A set of 12 maslinic acid-coumarin conjugates were synthesized, with one conjugate showing the most potent anticancer effects while maintaining high cell viability for non-tumor cells. Four conjugates demonstrated apoptotic effects in cancer cells, and most compounds caused cell-cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase in all tested cancer cell lines.
