Single-Atom-Substituted Mo2CTx:Fe-Layered Carbide for Selective Oxygen Reduction to Hydrogen Peroxide: Tracking the Evolution of the MXene Phase

Denis A. Kuznetsov et al.

Summary: This study critically assesses the electrocatalytic activity, stability, and nature of the active phase of a two-dimensional molybdenum carbide with single-atomic iron sites in the catalysis of the oxygen reduction reaction. The research revealed that the iron single sites transformed into active iron oxyhydroxide species, challenging previous studies on the activity of native MXene phases in oxygen electrocatalysis.

UV-assisted safe etching route for the synthesis of Mo2CTx MXene from Mo-In-C non-MAX phase

Tijin Thomas et al.

Summary: This study reported the synthesis of Mo2CTx MXene using UV-assisted safe etching in phosphoric acid followed by ultrasonic exfoliation from the Mo-In-C non-MAX phase. The selective etching of indium and structural characterization confirmed the formation of Mo2CTx MXene. The method used in this study unlocks the opportunity for industrial bulk production of MXenes.
