Defective domain control of TiO2 support in Pt/TiO2 for room temperature formaldehyde (HCHO) remediation

Waleed Ahmad et al.

Summary: Synthesizing defective anatase TiO2 through chemical vapor condensation and impregnating with Pt resulted in a Pt/CVC-TiO2 catalyst with high efficiency in removing HCHO at room temperature, demonstrating good stability over time. The study highlighted the synergistic relationship between oxygen vacancies in the TiO2 support and the resulting HCHO oxidation functionality.

Hydrogen adsorption on c-ZrO2(111), t-ZrO2(101), and m-ZrO2(111) surfaces and their oxygen-vacancy defect for hydrogen sensing and storage: A first-principles investigation

Monrada Petchmark et al.

Summary: Using DFT-D2 method, the hydrogen adsorption on various ZrO2 surfaces was evaluated, indicating that c-ZrO2(111) and m-ZrO2(111) surfaces, as well as surfaces with oxygen vacancies, have high potential for hydrogen storage. Additionally, t-ZrO2 (101), [t-ZrO2(101) + V-O], and [m-ZrO2 (111) + V-O] were suggested as potential materials for hydrogen sensing.

Micro structurally engineered hysteresis-free high efficiency perovskite solar cell using Zr-doped TiO2 electron transport layer

Sanjay Sandhu et al.

Summary: The study found that doping Zr in the TiO2 layer can significantly improve the power conversion efficiency of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite solar cells, mainly by enhancing charge carrier collection and conductivity. By suppressing non-geminated recombinations, leakage path, and electron trap-states, Zr doping reduces dark current, resulting in higher VOC, JSC, and PCE in HPSCs.

Meiting Song et al.

Summary: The study investigated the use of a BiVO4/g-C3N4 heterojunction modified by non-noble metal Bi nanoparticles to synergistically degrade formaldehyde under full spectral irradiation. Results showed that the photocatalytic activity of BiVO4/g-C3N4 was significantly improved, achieving a degradation efficiency of 96.39% for HCHO under 300 W Xenon lamp without filter. The photocatalyst also exhibited notable degradation efficiency under visible and near-infrared light, indicating a broad prospect for future applications.

Boosting visible-light-driven photocatalytic performance of waxberry-like CeO2 by samarium doping and silver QDs anchoring

Hui Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, a waxberry-like CeO2 photocatalyst with enhanced visible-light-driven photocatalytic performance was achieved through Sm doping and Ag quantum dots anchoring. The doping increased the concentration of oxygen vacancies in CeO2, resulting in a narrower bandgap and improved visible light utilization efficiency. The captured electrons by the vacancies effectively restricted the recombination of photo-excited carriers, leading to enhanced photocatalytic activities.

Gold modified TiO2/g-C3N4 for enhanced photocatalytic activities to evolved H2 fuel

Bobur Kholikov et al.

Summary: Au/TiO2/g-C3N4 nanocomposites prepared through a hydrothermal method exhibit significant photocatalytic activities for H-2 evolution under visible-light, with the optimized nanocomposite showing a high H-2 production rate. The enhanced photocatalytic activities are attributed to improved charge separation and energy platform for H-2 production, making TiO2 a superior material compared to other wide-band gap metal oxides for solar fuel production.

Multifunctional CNT:TiO2 additives in spiro-OMeTAD layer for highly efficient and stable perovskite solar cells

Qiang Lou et al.

Summary: The hole transport layer (HTL) is crucial for the power conversion efficiency (PCE) and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). By incorporating CNT:TiO2, the spiro-OMeTAD+CNT:TiO2 not only enhances conductivity significantly, but also effectively passivates the crystal defects of the perovskite layer. The optimized PSCs with spiro-OMeTAD+CNT:TiO2 HTL achieved a peak PCE of 21.53%, much higher than conventional spiro-OMeTAD based PSCs and showed improved stability.
