Fine tuning of pore architecture and morphology of stiffened Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks synthesized using fast current driven method and mixed ligand strategy

P. Utpalla et al.

Summary: This study utilized fast current driven synthesis to prepare stiffened phase ZIFs based on mixed ligands, allowing for tunable pore sizes and morphologies. X-ray diffraction was used to determine the crystal structure, while positronium lifetime measurements and scanning electron microscopy confirmed the relationship between pore sizes and benzimidazole ligand fraction in the frameworks.

Preparation of n-ZnO/p-Co3O4 heterojunctions from zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-8/ZIF-67) for sensing low ethanol concentrations

Tan Le Hoang Doan et al.

Summary: The nano-heterojunctions of n-ZnO/p-Co3O4, synthesized with varying molar ratios of Co3O4 from zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-8/ZIF-67), exhibited excellent ethanol-sensing performance due to high-porosity sensing materials, formation of p-n heterojunction at interfaces, catalytic ability of Co3O4, and high crystallinity of the ZnO phase.

Facile synthesis of metal-organic framework-derived ZnO/CuO nanocomposites for highly sensitive and selective H2S gas sensing

Tan Le Hoang Doan et al.

Summary: ZnO/CuO nanocomposites derived from a metal-organic framework showed excellent gas sensing performance on low concentrations of H2S gas, with high response, selectivity, and repeatability. This was attributed to the texture coefficients of the ZnO and CuO phase compositions, leading to the formation of a high number of p-n junctions and quantum confinement effects, as well as the lower binding energy of H2S.

Porosimetry for Thin Films of Metal-Organic Frameworks: A Comparison of Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy and Adsorption-Based Methods

Timothee Stassin et al.

Summary: Thin films of crystalline and porous metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have great potential in various applications, but characterizing their pore size, volume, and surface area can be challenging. Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) is introduced as a powerful method to obtain pore size information in MOF films, complementing existing physisorption-based techniques.

Selective adsorption of CO2 and SF6 on mixed-linker ZIF-7-8s: The effect of linker substitution on uptake capacity and kinetics

Michelle Ahlen et al.

Summary: Mixed-linker ZIF-7-8s constructed from varying amounts of bIm and mIm linkers were synthesized to selectively adsorb CO2 or SF6 with enhanced uptake capacity. Both CO2 and SF6 were found to be physisorbed on the ZIF-7-8 materials, with adsorption kinetics described by pseudo-second order kinetics and diffusion controlled by a mixture of mechanisms.

Fine-Tuning Window Apertures in ZIF-8/67 Frameworks by Metal Ions and Temperature for High-Efficiency Molecular Sieving of Xylenes

Daniil M. Polyukhov et al.

Summary: MOFs are promising for separating structurally similar components, with fine-tuning of the structure leading to higher efficiency. This study demonstrates that subtle metal- and temperature-induced changes in window dimensions of MOFs can efficiently separate xylene isomers, showing potential for target liquid-state separations.
