Assessing of cesium removal from wastewater using functionalized wood cellulosic adsorbent

Md Nazmul Hasan et al.

Summary: A modified adsorbent based on oxidized Mangrove charcoal was fabricated for Cs removal from waste sample, showing high adsorption capacity and potential monolayer coverage. Despite slight interference from high concentrations of Na and K, the adsorbent still exhibited selectivity towards Cs.

CNTs/MOF-808 painted plates for extended treatment of pharmaceutical and agrochemical wastewaters in a novel photocatalytic reactor

Mahmoud Samy et al.

Summary: The photocatalysis technology faces a significant gap between academic research and practical application, but focusing on reactor design, fixed photocatalysts, real wastes, and cost estimation can enhance its feasibility. The use of CNTs/MOF-808 coated plates in a photocatalytic reactor showed stable and effective degradation of CBZ and diazinon. The study optimized operational parameters, investigated degradation mechanisms, and achieved successful reduction of organic pollutants in real liquid wastes, along with cost estimations for large-scale applications.

Health risks to dietary neonicotinoids are low for Chinese residents based on an analysis of 13 daily-consumed foods

Kai Cui et al.

Summary: A nationwide survey in China found that neonicotinoid pesticide residues were detected in 62.21% of food samples, with 37.58% being contaminated with 2-7 different neonicotinoids. The study evaluated chronic and acute exposure risks, indicating that neonicotinoid exposure was within established safety limits, but children had a higher acute risk compared to the general population.

Zirconium(IV)-based metal-organic framework for determination of imidacloprid and thiamethoxam pesticides from fruits by UPLC-MS/MS

Yan Xu et al.

Summary: Zirconium(IV)-based metal-organic framework UiO-66-NH2 was synthesized for adsorbing imidacloprid and thiamethoxam in fruit samples, with key experimental parameters optimized using response surface methodology. The recovery rates of imidacloprid and thiamethoxam were high under optimum conditions, and the method was successfully applied for detecting these pesticides in different fruit samples. This study showed that UiO-66-NH2 is an excellent adsorbent for extracting imidacloprid and thiamethoxam from fruit samples.
