Infiltration metasomatism of the Allende coarse-grained calcium-aluminum-rich inclusions

Alexander N. Krot et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the secondary mineralization in the metasomatically altered igneous CAIs from the CV3 carbonaceous chondrite Allende. Different types of secondary minerals were identified, being mainly defined by the primary melilite compositions and elements introduced by aqueous fluid. The alteration process occurred after the decay of Al-26, followed by thermal metamorphism on the CV chondrite parent asteroid.

Comparison of the Murchison CM2 and Allende CV3 chondrites

Kim V. Fendrich et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the size, relative abundance, and chemical trends of macroscopic components in Murchison and Allende chondrites. It concludes that the two meteorites sampled distinct populations of chondrules and refractory inclusions and observes complementary Mg/Si ratios between chondrules and matrix in both Murchison and Allende. These findings provide constraints on astrophysical models of the origin of chondrite parent bodies.
