Complete divorced eutectic solidification can be achieved in hypereutectic Al-Si alloys through specific solidification conditions, resulting in significant refinement and nodularization of the Si phase. Two prerequisites for divorced eutectic solidification in hypereutectic Al-Si alloys are observed: abundant crystals of the Si phase present in liquid before the eutectic reaction, and a sufficiently slow cooling rate of the melt as it enters the temperature range of the eutectic reaction.
Complete divorced eutectic solidification is successfully accomplished in hypereutectic Al-Si alloys through specific solidification conditions. This method leads to significant refinement and nodularization of Si phase. For divorced eutectic solidification in hypereutectic Al-Si alloys, two prerequisites are observed: abundant crystals of the Si phase present in liquid before the eutectic reaction of L -> alpha-Al + Si and a sufficiently slow cooling rate of the melt as it enters the temperature range of the eutectic reaction.
