A novel Ti-3Al-5V-5Mo alloy with hierarchical submicron alpha precipitates and nanoscale alpha' precipitates was developed, which exhibited an ultra-high tensile strength of 1585 MPa and moderate plasticity.
A novel Ti-3Al-5V-5Mo alloy with hierarchical submicron alpha precipitates and nanoscale alpha' precipitates was developed. The combined strengthening effect of dislocation accumulation and back stress enhancing induced by the hierarchical alpha/alpha' phases resulted in an ultra-high tensile strength of 1585 MPa, while the plastically deformable alpha precipitates helped maintain a moderate plasticity.
