The effect of cell wall material strain and strain-rate hardening behaviour on the dynamic crush response of an aluminium multi-layered corrugated core

Summary: The study investigated the impact of the Johnson and Cook material model parameters on the direct impact crushing behavior of a layered 1050 H14 aluminum corrugated structure at different velocities. The results showed that the increase in velocity from quasi-static to 20 m s(-1) led to an increase in the numerical distle-end initial peak-stress, which remained relatively constant between 20 and 250 m s(-1). Additionally, the impact of the material models used on the impact-end stress of the investigated structure was found to be negligible.
