Boosting the water gas shift reaction on Pt/CeO2-based nanocatalysts by compositional modification: Support doping versus bimetallic alloying

Kun Yuan et al.

Summary: The water gas shift reaction is crucial for energy generation and transition. This study investigated the influence of support doping and bimetallic alloying on the catalytic performance of Pt/CeO2-based nanocatalysts in this reaction. It was found that doping lanthanide ions and 3d transition metals enhanced the catalytic activity, with Pt/CeO2:Tb and PtFe/CeO2 showing the highest activity among the different samples tested.

The water gas shift reaction: Catalysts and reaction mechanism

Erlisa Baraj et al.

Summary: The water gas shift reaction (WGSR) is a moderately exothermic reaction between carbon monoxide and steam, typically conducted in two stages at different temperatures with different catalysts. There is no universally accepted reaction mechanism for WGSR, and catalyst deactivation presents a limitation on its utilization. Various catalysts are active for WGSR, and catalyst preparation and pre-treatment steps play a crucial role in catalyst activity.

Co75Pt25 alloy nanoparticles: A class of catalyst for the catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol with enhanced activity and recycling

Xiaolong Zhang et al.

Summary: A facile one-step, co-chemical reduction controlled synthesis of CoxPt100-x alloy nanoparticles was reported, with Co75Pt25 alloy NPs showing the best magnetic response and catalytic reduction performance towards 4-nitrophenol. The alloy NPs exhibited small size distribution, superparamagnetism, and intensive catalytic performance for 4-NP reduction.

Surface-oxidized Fe-Co-Ni alloys anchored to N-doped carbon nanotubes as efficient catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction

Zheng Wang et al.

Summary: The study introduces an efficient oxygen reduction reaction catalyst, Fe2Co2Ni2/N-CNTs, which outperforms binary metal catalysts and provides more active sites. This catalyst not only demonstrates superior performance in ORR, but also shows better stability and methanol resistance compared to commercial Pt/C catalysts.

Facile synthesis of structurally ordered low-Pt-loading Pd-Pt-Fe nanoalloys with enhanced electrocatalytic performance for oxygen reduction reaction

Yingfang Zhu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the preparation of ordered low-Pt-loading Pd-Pt-Fe nanoalloys with excellent electrocatalytic performance through SPD-annealing strategy. Precise composition control and structural transformation lead to rational modification of the ORR performances of the catalysts. The optimized Pd0.75Pt0.25 Fe/C catalyst exhibits enhanced ORR catalytic performance in acidic conditions due to the synergistic interaction of lattice strain and ligand effect, showing superior stability over 10,000 cycles.
