Microstructure and wear resistance of WC/Co-based coating on copper by plasma cladding

Zixin Xie et al.

Summary: The Co-based alloy coating reinforced with WC phase prepared on copper substrate by plasma cladding showed improved hardness and wear resistance as the WC content increased. The morphology of carbide phases in the coating changed from punctate and flower to block and dendrite, leading to an increase in average hardness.

Effect of ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification on wear mechanisms of thermally-sprayed WC-Co coating

Auezhan Amanov et al.

Summary: Coating the high-pressure common rail injection system nozzles with WC-Co via thermal spray and treating them with ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (UNSM) can enhance wear resistance and performance. UNSM controls surface roughness and hardness through grain size refinement and pore reduction, resulting in improved wear performance compared to as-sprayed coating.
