In vitro and in silico analysis of dual-function peptides derived from casein hydrolysate

Maolin Tu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the anticoagulant and ACEI activities of casein hydrolysates released by pepsin digestion for the first time, showing both activities in the peptides. Analysis of the bioactive casein hydrolysate identified peptides derived from different types of casein, with some peptides exhibiting both ACEI and anticoagulant activities by binding to the active sites of ACE and thrombin. These findings suggest that casein could be a potential functional food supplement with medical purposes.

Simulated in vitro gastrointestinal digestion of traditional Chinese Rushan and Naizha cheese: Peptidome profiles and bioactivity elucidation

Yanan Shi et al.

Summary: This study characterized peptides in Chinese Rushan and Naizha cheeses, finding diverse bioactivities. Rushan cheese primarily derived peptides from casein, while Naizha cheese mainly came from kappa-casein and minor proteins. The study also discovered peptides with ACE inhibition, antibacterial, immunomodulatory, and antioxidant activities.
