Review of NLOphoric azo dyes-Developments in hyperpolarizabilities in last two decades

Chaitannya W. Ghanavatkar et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the hyperpolarizabilities of monomeric azo dyes studied by various analytical techniques, such as EFISHG, HRS, Z-scan technique, solvatochromic method, and DFT. It categorizes dyes based on their structural characteristics and highlights structures that exhibit higher non-linear optical response. Incorporating specific structural features like donor-acceptor pairs and conjugation extension can enhance the hyperpolarizabilities, as discussed in the review.

Nonlinear Optical Studies of Conjugated Organic Dyes for Optical Limiting Applications

A. A. Ummu Habeeba et al.

Summary: In this study, conjugated organic dyes made of different donor/acceptor moieties were prepared and their molecular structure and optical properties were investigated. It was found that extending the conjugation leads to a decrease in bandgap and a redshift in UV-Vis absorption spectra. Furthermore, nonlinear optical absorption studies revealed that the dyes exhibit different two-photon absorption characteristics and energy-absorbing optical limiting behavior.

A hydrazone organic optical modulator with a π electronic system for ultrafast photonics

Chenxi Zhang et al.

Summary: Hydrazone organic compounds with strong conjugation effects exhibit superior characteristics such as high nonlinear optical sensitivity, short response times, unique electronic spectra, and photothermal stability. By applying Hydrazone-1 to an erbium-doped fiber laser, a 922 fs traditional soliton mode-locked pulse was obtained and five bound-state soliton molecules were observed for the first time. These experiments demonstrate the strong optical properties of hydrazone compounds, indicating their potential as ultrashort pulse light sources with further research and exploration.
