Bulk Phase Behavior vs Interface Adsorption: Specific Multivalent Cation and Anion Effects on BSA Interactions

Madeleine R. Fries et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of different salts on the behavior of proteins (BSA), revealing that multivalent cations induced phase transitions, while the type of anions determined the protein behavior. Experimental findings showed that iodide ions can promote liquid-liquid phase separation and prevent re-entrant condensation in the system, with phase transitions at the interface triggered by specific interface properties.

Specific Anion Effects on Charged-Neutral Random Copolymers: Interplay between Different Anion-Polymer Interactions

Leilei Lian et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the anion specificities of P(METAC-co-NIPAM) copolymers depend on their chemical compositions. As the mole fraction of PNIPAM decreases, a V-shaped anion series can be observed. Both direct and indirect anion-polymer interactions contribute to the anion specificities of the copolymers.

Determination of Critical Micelle Concentration from the Diffusion-Driven Dilution of Micellar Aqueous Mixtures

Eliandreina Cruz Barrios et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of diffusion to identify the critical micelle concentration in surfactant solutions and successfully determines the C* values of three surfactants in water using Rayleigh interferometry. The dependence of C* on salt concentration for one surfactant was also characterized.

Efficient evaluation of electrostatic potential with computerized optimized code

Jun Zhang et al.

Summary: An efficient algorithm for evaluating ESP was proposed, which showed comparable or better performance than some state-of-the-art codes for systems like dopamine and remdesivir. The algorithm exhibited good parallelization scaling and was able to evaluate ESP for a system with 4840 GTOs and 259,262 ESP points in 1874 seconds on ordinary hardware.
