Preparation and Electrorheological Properties of Peanut-Like Hollow Core-Shell Structure TiO2@SiO2 Nanoparticles

Weijian Sun et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the successful preparation of core-shell hollow TiO2@SiO2 spheres for electrorheological (ER) fluid material, which greatly enhanced its performance under various electric field strengths. The coated particles showed significant improvement in current meter performance, with shear stress values exceeding 200 Pa at 3.0 kV mm(-1). This innovative approach offers a promising ER candidate material with simple preparation and strong development potential.

Morphology control of 3D hierarchical urchin-like hollow SiO2@TiO2 spheres for photocatalytic degradation: Influence of calcination temperature

Yan Bao et al.

Summary: A novel 3D hierarchical urchin-like SiO2@TiO2 sphere with hollow structure and anatase-rutile biphase was synthesized via solvothermal process, and the effects of calcination temperature on its photocatalytic activity were systematically studied. The 3D-UHSTs prepared at a calcination temperature of 700 degrees C exhibited higher photocatalytic activity due to electron transfer and reduced electron/hole recombination. The photocatalytic degradation of RhB followed first-order reaction kinetics, with a rate constant of 0.04654 min(-1).

Optical Hot Spot Generation by the Plasmonic Coupling of Au Nanoparticles in the Nanospaces of Mesoporous Titanium(IV) Oxide

Atsunobu Akita et al.

Summary: A novel in situ reduction technique has been developed to uniformly deposit Au nanoparticles in the depth direction of mesoporous TiO2 nanocrystalline film, leading to unique optical properties such as the broadening of localized surface plasmon resonance bands and the generation of optical hot spots. The effective LSPR coupling and partial fusions of Au nanoparticles in nanospaces of TiO2 contribute to these phenomena, resulting in a significant enhancement of absorption in the infrared spectrum.
