Investigation and mechanism analysis of disasters under Hokkaido Eastern Iburi earthquake

Hanxu Zhou et al.

Summary: An Mw6.6 earthquake in eastern Iburi, Hokkaido on September 6, 2018 led to liquefaction and landslides, with heavy rainfall and seismic motion contributing to the disasters. Investigation showed the instability of surface soil due to continuous rain and the classification of landslides into translational earth slides and earth flow. Analysis of stability and displacement of slopes confirmed the impact of rainfall and seismic activity on regional slope failure.
