Re-defining a high volume center for pancreaticoduodenectomy

Roheena Z. Panni et al.

Summary: This study aimed to re-evaluate the definitions of high volume centers for pancreaticoduodenectomy and establish objective, evidence-based thresholds for hospital volume associated with improvement in perioperative mortality. The findings suggest that institutions with average annual volume less than 9, 9 to 35, and more than 35 cases per year should be classified as low, medium, and high volume centers for pancreaticoduodenectomy, respectively, to maximize outcomes.
