Exosome-mediated transfer of SNHG7 enhances docetaxel resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

Kai Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, we found that SNHG7 enhances docetaxel resistance of LUAD cells by inducing autophagy and macrophage M2 polarization. Exosomal SNHG7 transmitted between cells plays a crucial role in facilitating docetaxel resistance, indicating a potential target for overcoming resistance in LUAD.

Tumor-derived exosomes induce immunosuppressive macrophages to foster intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma progression

Chubin Luo et al.

Summary: Macrophages in ICC tumor tissues upregulate PD-L1 expression, suppressing T-cell immunity and correlating with poor survival rates. Exosomal miR-183-5p from ICC cells inhibits PTEN expression in macrophages, leading to elevated AKT phosphorylation and PD-L1 expression, contributing to ICC progression. Plasma exosomal miR-183-5p levels are associated with poor prognosis in ICC patients.

Tumor-associated macrophages promote cholangiocarcinoma progression via exosomal Circ_0020256

Shaoyi Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of exosomal circular RNAs (CircRNAs) produced by tumor-associated macrophages on the microenvironment of cholangiocarcinoma cells, and identified Circ_0020256 as a promoter of proliferation, migration, and invasion in cholangiocarcinoma cells. This promotional activity was mediated by the interaction between Circ_0020256 and its intracellular microRNA target, miR-432-5p.

Exosomal miR-101-3p and miR-423-5p inhibit medulloblastoma tumorigenesis through targeting FOXP4 and EZH2

Ping Xue et al.

Summary: Exosomal miRNAs, such as miR-101-3p and miR-423-5p, play important roles as tumor suppressors in mediating the progression of medulloblastoma by inhibiting proliferation, migration, and invasion of tumor cells, and promoting apoptosis. These exosomal miRNAs can be delivered to tumor cells via exosomes and directly target genes like FOXP4 and EZH2, reinforcing their tumor inhibitory effects. Overexpression of miR-101-3p and miR-423-5p has been shown to inhibit tumorigenesis in vivo in a xenograft mouse model, indicating a potential therapeutic approach for the treatment of children with medulloblastoma.

M2 Macrophage-Derived Exosomes Facilitate HCC Metastasis by Transferring αMβ2 Integrin to Tumor Cells

Jindao Wu et al.

Summary: This study showed that TAMs are enriched in HCC and promote the migratory potential of HCC cells through M2-derived exosomes. The specific and efficient presence of CD11b/CD18 in M2 exos was identified using mass spectrometry. Blocking CD11b and/or CD18 significantly decreased M2 exos-mediated HCC cell metastasis, highlighting the potential role of TAM-derived exosomes in promoting tumor migration.

Targeting the tumor microenvironment in cholangiocarcinoma: implications for therapy

Juan Wang et al.

Summary: Cholangiocarcinomas (CCAs) are biliary epithelial tumors with increasing incidence, often diagnosed at an advanced stage due to the challenging early diagnosis. Current standard systemic therapy options are limited in their effectiveness, and immune checkpoint inhibition (ICI) has shown relatively disappointing response rates in CCAs due to their desmoplastic tumor microenvironment. Effective therapeutic strategies targeting the tumor microenvironment (TME) are needed for better treatment outcomes.

Transfer of LncRNA CRNDE in TAM-derived exosomes is linked with cisplatin resistance in gastric cancer

Lin Xin et al.

Summary: This study highlights the crucial role of LncRNA CRNDE in cisplatin resistance of gastric cancer cells, showing that CRNDE is transferred from M2 macrophages to GC cells via exosomes, regulating PTEN ubiquitination. This suggests that targeting CRNDE-mediated pathways may enhance chemotherapy sensitivity in gastric cancer.

Exosomal Cripto-1 Serves as a Potential Biomarker for Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma

Chunxiao Hu et al.

Summary: Exosomal Cripto-1 released by PHCCA cells reflects its expression in tissue and shows potential as a non-invasive biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis of PHCCA. Compared to traditional serum tumor markers, exosomal Cripto-1 demonstrates better performance in PHCCA diagnosis. Additionally, levels of exosomal Cripto-1 are negatively correlated with E-cadherin expression and serve as an independent prognostic marker for poor survival in PHCCA patients.
