Tissue distribution and seasonal accumulation of carotenoids in Yesso scallop (Mizuhopecten yessoensis) with orange adductor muscle

Xue Li et al.

Summary: Carotenoids, including pectenolone and pectenoxanthin, were found to be distributed in various tissues of both Haida golden scallop and normal Yesso scallop, with significantly higher concentrations in the former. During the spring spawning season, there was an increase in carotenoid concentrations in the adductor muscle of Haida golden scallop. This study provides valuable insights for future research on carotenoid accumulation and functions in scallops.

A START domain-containing protein is involved in the incorporation of ER-derived fatty acids into chloroplast glycolipids in Marchantia polymorpha

Takashi Hirashima et al.

Summary: The protein STAR2 is identified to be involved in the transfer of ER-derived fatty acids into chloroplast glycolipids in Marchantia polymorpha, indicating its crucial role in lipid transportation between organelles. This study sheds light on the mechanisms behind the increase of C-20 fatty acids in chloroplast glycolipids under phosphate deprivation conditions.
