Insight into the performance and mechanism of persimmon tannin functionalized waste paper for U(VI) and Cr(VI) removal

Fenglei Liu et al.

Summary: This study utilized waste paper as a cross-linking agent to immobilize persimmon tannin for the removal of U(VI) and Cr(VI), achieving competitive maximum removal capacities. The adsorption process was influenced by various factors and well fitted by Langmuir and Pseudo-second-order equations. Adsorption mechanisms were identified as surface complexation for U(VI) and redox reaction for Cr(VI), providing a high-efficiency and low-cost adsorbent for radioactive nuclide and heavy metal treatment.

Adsorption and reduction of Cr(VI) from aqueous solution using cost-effective caffeic acid functionalized corn starch

Fenglei Liu et al.

Summary: A bio-adsorbent DACS-CA was developed by immobilizing caffeic acid on dialdehyde corn starch for efficient removal of Cr(VI) from wastewater. Characterization analysis indicated a redox reaction between Cr(VI) and the bio-adsorbent, where Cr(VI) was initially loaded via electrostatic interaction, partially converted into Cr(III), and then immobilized on DACS-CA's carboxyl groups.

Cr(VI) reduction coupled with Cr(III) adsorption/ precipitation for Cr(VI) removal at near neutral pHs by polyaniline nanowires-coated polypropylene filters

Shuang-Yu Pi et al.

Summary: In this study, a PANI-PP filter was prepared for the removal of Cr(VI) at near neutral pHs, showing that PANI nanowires had higher adsorption capacity and surface area compared to powders. The electrochemical regeneration process facilitated efficient removal of Cr(VI) even after multiple cycles, indicating promising potential for practical applications in water remediation.
