A Robust Distributed Interval Observer for LTI Systems

Xiaoling Wang et al.

Summary: This article investigates the state estimation problem of a continuous-time linear time-invariant system in the presence of unknown external disturbance and measurement noise. A robust distributed interval observer is designed, which consists of a group of sensors communicating through a directed graph. The communication, heterogeneity, and undetectability of the sensors impose stringent requirements on the observer construction. To address these restrictions, an internally positive representation from a single agent system is introduced. Numerical simulations are conducted to validate the theoretical results.

Functional observability and target state estimation in large-scale networks

Arthur N. Montanari et al.

Summary: To understand and control complex dynamical systems, their internal states need to be observed through measurement or estimation. However, in large-scale dynamical networks, having enough sensor nodes to make the system fully observable is often difficult. This study introduces a graph-based theory of functional observability to determine the minimal set of required sensors and design the corresponding state observer of minimum order. The proposed functional observer achieves the same estimation quality with fewer resources, making it suitable for large-scale networks.

The variant d-path Laplacian based consensus protocols for networked harmonic oscillators

Rong Fang et al.

Summary: This paper addresses the consensus protocol design problem of networked harmonic oscillators interacting through a directed graph with peer pressure from the perspective of output information. Sufficient conditions in terms of coupling strength are given for networked harmonic oscillators without time delay, while for those with time delay, sufficient conditions in terms of coupling strength and the upper bound on the time delay are proposed. Simulation examples are provided to verify the theoretical results.
