Effect of different kinds of SiC fibers on microwave absorption and mechanical properties of SiCf/SiC composites

Zhaowen Ren et al.

Summary: SiC fibers play a crucial role in designing multifunctional composites with microwave absorption and mechanical properties. Among the SLF, KD-II, and KD-S SiC fibers, SLF SiCf/SiC composites exhibit the best microwave absorption property in X band, while KD-II SiCf/SiC composites perform poorly in this aspect, and KD-S SiCf/SiC composites fall in between.

Influence of preparation method on microstructure and tribological behavior of C/C-BN composites

Fuhai Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, C/C-BN(P) composites were successfully prepared by the combined methods of SI and CVI, exhibiting improved tribological behavior attributed to the combined effect of SI and CVI on the microstructure and mechanical properties. Additionally, the excellent reinforcement of C/C-BN(P) composites can significantly reduce the friction coefficient and wear loss, making them promising materials for anti-friction and wear-resistant applications.

Improved mechanical and microwave absorption properties of SiCf/SiC composites with SiO2 filler

Zhaowen Ren et al.

Summary: The addition of SiO2 filler can effectively improve the mechanical and electromagnetic wave absorption properties of SiCf/SiC composites, thereby enhancing the flexural strength. The SiO2 filler breaks the conductive network in the SiC matrix, resulting in lower complex permittivity and better impedance matching, leading to lower reflection loss values.

Microwave absorption and mechanical properties of SiCf/SiOC composites with SiO2 fillers

Zhaowen Ren et al.

Summary: SiCf/SiOC composites were prepared with different content of SiO2 fillers, showing that the fillers can enhance the density of matrix, reduce microcracks, and improve flexural strength and complex permittivity initially. However, excessive addition of SiO2 fillers led to a decrease in complex permittivity and flexural strength. Composites with 10 g SiO2 fillers demonstrated good reflection loss and effective absorption bandwidth at 3.21 GHz, along with a flexural strength of 171.71 MPa.
