Effects of SiO2 inclusions on sintering and permeability of NiCuZn ferrite for additive manufacturing of power magnets

Lanbing Liu et al.

Summary: 3D printing has the potential to simplify the fabrication of novel magnetic components, leading to miniaturization of power electronic devices. The main challenge is the lack of functional magnetic feedstock with various choices of magnetic permeabilities. By adding different fractions of silica particles, the permeability of NiCuZn ferrite feedstock can be tailored. This paper developed a formulation guideline for the feedstock and accurately predicted the permeability of the composite ferrite.

Guideline for paste extrusion 3D printing of slump-free ferrite inductor cores

Lanbing Liu et al.

Summary: Ceramic paste extrusion 3D printing can fabricate novel designs of ferrite inductors with the requirement of minimum yield stress for maintaining shape, influenced by UV-curing time. A guideline was developed based on a slumping model from the concrete industry to test the feasibility on two common commercial ferrite core structures.

Summary: The conversion of inorganic-organic frameworks into solid mass ceramic structures via photopolymerization in the field of additive manufacturing is gaining attention. Various techniques like stereolithography have been widely investigated. However, challenges such as shape shrinkage and poor mechanical performance exist when using 3D printing techniques for ceramic fabrication, emphasizing the importance of material composition and printing processes.
