Electrosynthesis of polydopamine-ethanolamine films for the development of immunosensing interfaces

Luis C. Almeida et al.

Summary: The study presents a straightforward electrochemical method to develop polydopamine-ethanolamine films for immunosensing interfaces, showing high affinity for immunoproteins. Surface analysis techniques and bioassays were used to investigate the effects of ethanolamine on dopamine electropolymerization, as well as the film's anti-fouling and adhesive properties.

Comprehensive study of the electrochemical growth and physicochemical properties of polycatecholamines and polycatechol

Luis C. Almeida et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potentiodynamic polymerization of bioinspired catecholamines and catechol, revealing new insights into their electropolymerization kinetics and physicochemical properties of the films. Different catecholamines showed distinct growth rates and properties, with polydopamine having the fastest growth and polyDOPA having the slowest growth. Reproducible and quantitatively deposited electroactive films were achieved using all the monomers, demonstrating promising biomimetic materials for bioconjugation and electrochemical biosensing applications.
