Dynamic Annular Modeling of the Unrepaired Complete Atrioventricular Canal Annulus

Hannah H. Nam et al.

Summary: Repairing complete atrioventricular canal (CAVC) is often complicated by atrioventricular valve regurgitation. A study found that the 3D shape of the CAVC annulus varies significantly throughout the cardiac cycle. The left half of the CAVC annulus is more planar than a normal mitral valve annulus and has a similar annular height-to-valve width ratio to dysfunctional mitral valves.

Pre-surgical Prediction of Ischemic Mitral Regurgitation Recurrence Using In Vivo Mitral Valve Leaflet Strains

Harshita Narang et al.

Summary: Research shows that there are significant differences in pre-surgical mitral valve size, shape, and deformation patterns between patients with and without IMR recurrence at 6 months post-surgery. Average pre-surgical circumferential leaflet strain in the A1 region can independently predict IMR recurrence.

Segmentation of Tricuspid Valve Leaflets From Transthoracic 3D Echocardiograms of Children With Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome Using Deep Learning

Christian Herz et al.

Summary: Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is a severe congenital heart defect where right ventricle and tricuspid valve alone support circulation. Using a Fully Convolutional Network (FCN) to segment tricuspid valves from transthoracic 3DE has shown promising results in precision and has potential for widespread clinical applications.

Computational Analysis of Virtual Echocardiographic Assessment of Functional Mitral Regurgitation for Validation of Proximal Isovelocity Surface Area Methods

Tongran Qin et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the accuracy of different PISA methods for quantifying mitral regurgitation using computer models. Results showed that 3D PISA had the highest accuracy, while 2D hemispherical PISA tended to underestimate regurgitation. Integrated PISA was found to be more accurate than peak PISA for regurgitant volume quantification.
