Femtosecond Time-Resolved Absorption Study of Signaling State of a BLUF Protein PixD from the Cyanobacterium Synechocystis: Hydrogen-Bond Rearrangement Completes during Forward Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer

Tomotsumi Fujisawa et al.

Summary: Femtosecond time-resolved absorption measurements were conducted on the dark and signaling states of the BLUF protein PixD, revealing significant differences in the formation rate of FADH(center dot) between the two states, while the decay rate remains the same. This suggests a rearrangement of the FAD-Gln50-Tyr8 hydrogen-bond network during the PCET process.
