Activation of Di-tert-butyldiphosphatetrahedrane: Access to (tBuCP)n (n=2, 4) Ligand Frameworks by P-C Bond Cleavage

Gabriele Hierlmeier et al.

Summary: The reactivity of di-tert-butyldiphosphatetrahedrane was studied, showing selective activation by N-heterocyclic carbene nickel(I) and nickel(0) complexes to form novel complexes. Furthermore, release of the tetrahedral framework was achieved by addition of CO gas.

Di-tert-butyldiphosphatetrahedrane as a Source of 1,2-Diphosphacyclobutadiene Ligands

Gabriele Hierlmeier et al.

Summary: Reactions of di-tert-butyldiphosphatetrahedrane with metalate anions consistently yield complexes containing rarely encountered 1,2-diphosphacyclobutadiene ligands, which possess distinct reactivity and can serve as precursors for previously unknown triphospholium ligands. The electronic structures of these new complexes have been investigated using various spectroscopic techniques and quantum chemical calculations.

Dimerization and Cycloaddition Reactions of Transient Tri-tert-butylphosphacyclobutadiene Generated by Lewis Acid Induced Isomerization of Tri-tert-butylphosphatetrahedrane

Martin-Louis Y. Riu et al.

Summary: In this study, Tri-tert-butylphosphatetrahedrane was demonstrated to act as a synthon of tri-tert-butylphosphacyclobutadiene under specific conditions, leading to the synthesis of various derivatives. By trapping the generated intermediate, the corresponding compounds were successfully synthesized with high yields, and a novel method for generating phosphinidenoid species was reported.
