High performance superconducting joint for MgB2 films

Chen Guo et al.

Summary: In this article, superconducting joints for MgB2 films were successfully fabricated using sol-gel derived Mg(BH4)2Et2O as the glue. The two types of MgB2 joints showed excellent superconducting performance with high critical temperature (TC) of 40 K, high critical current (IC) of 340 mA at 0 T, and good current capacity in magnetic fields up to 4 T.

A new vision of short-time and long-time AC loss measurement and modelling: A superconducting power electronic circuit

Xiaoyuan Chen et al.

Summary: This paper presents a new perspective on measuring and modeling loss in superconducting coils over both short and long periods of time. It is found that AC losses have power-law relations with operating time and depend strongly on time, due to accumulated heat and interrelations between critical current and temperature in the coil. A new time-dependent analytical model accurately models real-time losses in the coil, matching tests over both short and long time periods.

Three-Dimensional Electromagnetic and Thermal Field Coupled Analysis of Different Types of REBCO Coils Under Overcurrent Conditions

Kezhen Qian et al.

Summary: A versatile 3D electromagnetic and thermal field coupled FEM analysis tool was developed for REBCO coils in this research, and its capability in studying the transient electromagnetic and thermal behaviors was verified through two case studies. The first case study focused on the transient behaviors of SFCL REBCO coils under overcurrent, while the second case study explored the influence of external energy input on the quench of magnet REBCO coils. Additionally, the limitations and improvements of the quench detection scheme based on voltage detection were discussed.
