Summary: A polymeric carbon nitride thin film grown by chemical vapor deposition showed a high degree of organization in stacking polymer sheets with strong inter-layer interactions but lacked crystallinity. The material's properties were explained through a comprehensive theoretical study based on semi-empirical quantum chemistry calculations, elucidating fundamental issues regarding the structural conformation of graphitic carbon nitride.

Single molecular precursors for CxNy materials- Blending of carbon and nitrogen beyond g-C3N4

Sunil Kumar et al.

Summary: Carbon nitride, considered one of the oldest carbon-based materials, has gained extensive attention and application in physics, chemistry, and biology in the beginning of the 21st century. The most stable composition, graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4), with a C:N ratio of 0.75, exhibits unique optical and semiconducting properties attributed to its nitrogen content. Current research suggests that the C:N stoichiometry can be varied to control the semiconducting properties, expanding the boundaries of carbon nitrides beyond C:N = 0.75.

Summary: This review mainly discusses the construction of ordered graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4)-based materials by melamine self-assembly, reviewing and discussing the process from the perspectives of material source and product shape. The effects of molecular structure, solution environment, synthesis methods, and the presence of other substances on the self-assembly behavior are explored, and the synthesis mechanisms are presented from multiple sides.
