Early outcomes after definitive chemoradiation therapy with Vienna/Venezia hybrid high-dose rate brachytherapy applicators for cervical cancer: A single-institution experience

A. Keller et al.

Summary: The Vienna and Venezia hybrid intracavitary/interstitial brachytherapy applicators are used for cervical cancers unsuitable for intracavitary brachytherapy alone. Limited outcome data exists outside of published experience of the EMBRACE group. Feasibility and early outcomes were reported in treating 61 patients with cervical cancer using these hybrid applicators, showing good tolerance and higher survival rates.

ESGO/ESTRO/ESP guidelines for the management of patients with endometrial carcinoma

Nicole Concin et al.

Summary: The European consensus conference on endometrial carcinoma in 2014 aimed to produce multi-disciplinary evidence-based guidelines. Since then, the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), and the European Society of Pathology (ESP) have decided to update the guidelines and cover new topics to improve care for women with endometrial carcinoma globally.

Dosimetric feasibility of computed tomography-based image-guided brachytherapy in locally advanced cervical cancer: a Japanese prospective multi-institutional study

Yuki Otani et al.

Summary: This study assessed the feasibility of planning dose-volume histogram (DVH) parameters in computed tomography-based 3D image-guided brachytherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer. The results showed that using hybrid (combined intracavitary/interstitial) brachytherapy (HBT) significantly improved HR-CTV D-90, fulfilling dose constraints for target and at-risk organs.

Predicting which patients may benefit from the hybrid intracavitary plus interstitial needle (IC/IS) applicator for advanced cervical cancer: A dosimetric comparison and toxicity benefit analysis

Yesenia Gonzalez et al.

Summary: The study compared the effectiveness of image-guided adaptive brachytherapy plans using different applicators for locally advanced cervical cancer patients. The results showed that using a hybrid applicator like T/R + N could lead to better local control rates and lower bladder and rectum toxicity rates, especially for patients with larger tumor volumes or asymmetric tumor shapes.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the feasibility of planning dose-volume histogram (DVH) parameters in 3D image-guided brachytherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer. Results showed that handling bulky HR-CTV in HBT significantly improved the treatment outcomes.
