The Blatter radical is applied in a cross-linked polymer to produce a stable and quickly chargeable electrode material for organic radical batteries. This material demonstrates excellent rate capabilities and cycling stability in coin cell experiments, making high polymer loading possible.
The Blatter radical is applied in a cross-linked polymer to yield a stable and quickly chargeable electrode material for organic radical batteries. Different electrolytes are screened in cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiments and the material is utilized as a cathode material in coin cell experiments. It exhibits excellent rate capabilities of up to 60 C, where it keeps 48% of the capacity at 1 C. It is stable in cycling experiments of 5000 cycles with a capacity retention of 56% and 96% capacity retention after 1000 cycles. The performance of the electrodes is independent of the polymer loading between 20 and 60 wt%, making a high polymer loading possible. These results demonstrate a promising, stable cathode material for organic polymer batteries.
