Controllable anisotropic thermoelectric properties in 2D covalent organic radical frameworks

Xuan-Hao Cao et al.

Summary: By combining density functional theory with the Boltzmann transport equation, the study investigated the thermoelectric properties of graphphenyl-based materials. It was found that breaking symmetry and twisting the phenyl ring can realize anisotropic thermoelectric properties, and rotating the phenyl ring can further enhance the performance of these materials. The results indicate excellent thermoelectric performance of the materials, two orders of magnitude higher than graphene, with a wide range of suitable working temperatures.

Magnetic properties manipulation of CrTe2 bilayer through strain and self-intercalation

Qiu-Qiu Li et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the manipulation of magnetic properties of a CrTe2 bilayer through in-plane strain and self-intercalation, revealing significant changes in magnetic ground state and magnetic easy axis. The results indicate the sensitivity of the magnetic property of the CrTe2 bilayer to in-plane strain and self-intercalation, providing important guidance for further magnetic manipulation in theoretical research and applications of magnetic strain sensors and spin transistors.

Fabrication of sulfur-doped cove-edged graphene nanoribbons on Au(111)*

Huan Yang et al.

Summary: The study reports the synthesis of sulfur-doped cove-edged GNRs on a gold surface, revealing the formation mechanism through microscopy measurements. The S-CGNRs have a smaller energy bandgap than undoped cove-edged GNRs, effectively tuning the bandgap.

Schottky barrier heights in two-dimensional field-effect transistors: from theory to experiment

Yangyang Wang et al.

Summary: Over the past decade, two-dimensional semiconductors have attracted wide interest due to their extraordinary properties, with field-effect transistors being commonly used as the device geometry. Direct metal contact is often utilized in 2DSC FETs due to the lack of effective doping techniques. The presence of a Schottky barrier in the metal-2DSC junction significantly impacts the performance of most 2DSC FETs, emphasizing the importance of low SB contacts.

Tunable spin electronic and thermoelectric properties in twisted triangulene π-dimer junctions

Dan Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the electronic properties and thermoelectric performance of triangulene pi-dimer junctions with varying twist angles through first-principles calculations. It is found that the relative rotation between monomers can lead to different magnetic states, with outstanding thermoelectric performance observed at specific twist angles. The high ZT value of around 6 in ferromagnetic states is mainly attributed to spin splitting, indicating potential for improving thermoelectric properties in pi-stacking molecular junctions or organic polymers.

Sub-10 nm two-dimensional transistors: Theory and experiment

Ruge Quhe et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional semiconductors show promising electrostatics and carrier transportability, offering potential for scaling FETs' gate length down to the sub-10 nm region without compromising device performance. Many 2D FETs exhibit excellent performance for high performance and/or low power applications, extending Moore's law down to 1 to 2-nm gate length.
