Elliptical acoustic black holes for flexural wave lensing in plates

Jie Deng et al.

Summary: An elliptical acoustic black hole (EABH) lens is proposed in this work, which can concentrate waves at a predefined focal point with only slight thickness reduction, as opposed to requirements in most ABH applications. The performance of EABHs on plates is characterized with two approaches, and a detailed study of the variations in focal distance and wave amplitude at the focal region depending on the EABH parameters is presented. The proposed EABH broadens the potential for energy harvesting applications and offers new possibilities for acoustic imaging.

Singular Lenses for Flexural Waves on Elastic Thin Curved Plates

Dongwoo Lee et al.

Summary: Transformation optics provides a new method for wave manipulation, but some devices require a special refractive index, which transmutation can solve; lenses with singularities can be obtained by approaching zero thickness at the singularity location on plates, aiding in the development of a general methodology for shaping elastic waves.
