Numerical study on stability of diamagnetic levitation of a single-layer graphene sheet

Norio Inui

Summary: Strong diamagnetic interactions allow carbon materials to levitate in the atmosphere, with factors such as Brownian motion and attractive surface forces affecting stability. The size of the nanomaterial affects stability, with the Casimir interactions potentially disrupting levitation.

Magnetism in graphene flakes with edge disorder

Sean Deyo et al.

Summary: The magnetization of graphene flakes varies with size, shape, boundary type, and edge defects, with Klein boundaries showing smaller orbital magnetization. Odd-numbered flakes exhibit paramagnetic spin response. The addition of next-nearest neighbor term in the Hamiltonian does not destroy this effect as long as approximate particle-hole symmetry is maintained.

Magnetizations and de Haas-van Alphen oscillations in massive Dirac fermions

F. R. Pratama et al.

Summary: Theoretical study on the dependence of magnetizations in Dirac fermions on magnetic field, temperature, and energy band-gap, as well as the effects of impurities on orbital susceptibility of graphene are conducted in this research. It is shown that in the presence of impurity, the susceptibility follows a scaling law. Additionally, robust magnetization with respect to temperature and impurity in the case of massive Dirac fermions is demonstrated.
