Organic ligand mediated evolution from aluminum-based superalkalis to superatomic molecules and one-dimensional nanowires

Jun Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the impact of 1,4-phenylene diisocyanide ligand on aluminum-based clusters, showing that the ligand can reduce ionization potentials and form superalkali species, and also act as a bridge linking different clusters to form superatomic molecules and nanowires, enhancing their nonlinear optical responses.

Observation of Outlaw Dual Aromaticity in Unexpectedly Stable Open-Shell Metal Clusters Caused by Near-Degenerate Molecular Orbital Coupling

Jun Li et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that some metal clusters exhibit dual aromaticity and unexpected stability of open-shell geometries, challenging traditional chemical rules and showcasing the diversity of aromaticity. The stability of these clusters is attributed to the molecular orbital coupling effect, highlighting room for development within existing rules.

Chemically Modified Gold/Silver Superatoms as Artificial Elements at Nanoscale: Design Principles and Synthesis Challenges

Shinjiro Takano et al.

Summary: This article discusses the characteristics and potential applications of clusters of pure and doped gold/silver protected by organic ligands as novel functional materials. By proposing empirical guiding principles for electronic structures, as well as design guidelines for functionalities and processes of hydride-mediated transformation, we can overcome the challenges of exploring new materials and develop more efficient, targeted synthesis methods.

Efficient Photoexcited Charge Separation at the Interface of a Novel 0D/2D Heterojunction: A Time-Dependent Ultrafast Dynamic Study

Xueke Yu et al.

Summary: The Au-9(PH3)(8)/MoS2 heterojunction demonstrates excellent light absorption capacity and effective charge separation due to ultrafast electron transfer and slow hole transfer. Nonadiabatic coupling and density overlap are identified as the reasons for faster electron separation relative to hole separation, with electron-hole recombination requiring a longer timespan.

Charge Skin Behavior of Gold Superatoms

Aihua Cheng et al.

Summary: By investigating the charge distribution and electron occupation in neutral gold superatoms and their anion structures, it was found that there exists skin behavior of charge distribution for gold superatoms. Adding an electron causes SAMOs rearrangement and enhances the geometric symmetry of superatoms, particularly in [Au-13](-) and [Au-55](-). These findings provide a new perspective on microelectronic structure and the skin effects.
