On the Redox Mechanism of Low-Temperature NH3-SCR over Cu-CHA: A Combined Experimental and Theoretical Study of the Reduction Half Cycle

Wenshuo Hu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the redox mechanism of Low-Temperature SCR on Cu-CHA using various techniques, proposing a Cu-II pair mediated pathway for the reduction half-cycle, challenging previous mechanistic proposals based on isolated Cu-II ions. The results highlight the important role of dinuclear Cu complexes in both oxidation and reduction reactions of Low-Temperature SCR.

Kinetics and thermodynamics of ammonia solvation on Z2Cu, ZCuOH and ZCu sites in Cu-SSZ-13-Implications for hydrothermal aging

Rohil Daya et al.

Summary: A kinetic model is used to describe the surface coverage of Cu-amine complexes on different sites in Cu-SSZ-13, with inputs from experimental data and density functional theory estimations. The model is further modified to predict NH3 adsorption and desorption rates on oxidized and reduced catalysts, with consistent results from various experimental techniques and calculations.

Unexpected increase in low-temperature NH3-SCR catalytic activity over Cu-SSZ-39 after hydrothermal aging

Jinpeng Du et al.

Summary: The study reveals that after hydrothermal aging, Cu-SSZ-39 showed a remarkable increase in low-temperature NH3-SCR catalytic activity, attributed to the transformation of Cu2+ ions into CuxOy species facilitating the production of nitrate species critical for the catalytic process.

Mobility of Cu Ions in Cu-SSZ-13 Determines the Reactivity of Selective Catalytic Reduction of NOx with NH3

Hwangho Lee et al.

Summary: The study aims to reveal the mobility-dependent SCR reaction by controlling Cu species with different ion mobilities in Cu-SSZ-13. The results indicate that enhanced ion mobility leads to improved NH3-SCR activity, providing insights for designing rational catalysts by tuning ion mobility.

Transient Kinetic Analysis of Low-Temperature NH3-SCR over Cu-CHA Catalysts Reveals a Quadratic Dependence of Cu Reduction Rates on CuII

Federica Gramigni et al.

Summary: NO and NH3 can readily reduce CuII at low temperatures according to a 1:1:1:1 stoichiometry over Cu-CHA catalysts. The reduction rates of Cu-II show a quadratic dependence on Cu-II, suggesting a dinuclear-Cu-II mediated RHC pathway. Water significantly inhibits the Cu-II reduction rate in the reaction cascade.

Mobility and Reactivity of Cu+ Species in Cu-CHA Catalysts under NH3-SCR-NOx Reaction Conditions: Insights from AIMD Simulations

Reisel Millan et al.

Summary: The migration of copper cations acting as active sites for selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in Cu-CHA catalysts is temperature and feed composition-dependent. Diffusion of [Cu(NH3)(2)](+) complexes is hindered by excess NH3 or NO in the initial cavity, as well as modified by the presence of O-2. This study provides evidence for the presence of two different reaction mechanisms at low and high temperatures in SCR reactions.
