Stability of nanoparticle stabilized oil-in-water Pickering emulsion under high pressure and high temperature conditions: comparison with surfactant stabilized oil-in-water emulsion

Ganesh Kumar et al.

Summary: A comparative study was conducted on the stability of silica nanoparticle stabilized Pickering emulsion and surfactant SDS stabilized emulsion under high pressure and high temperature conditions. Results showed that the emulsion stabilized by Ludox CL nanoparticle demonstrated better stability compared to the SDS stabilized emulsion under HPHT conditions.

Nanofluids of silica nanoparticles in low salinity water with surfactant and polymer (SMART LowSal) for enhanced oil recovery

Uma Sankar Behera et al.

Summary: Spontaneous imbibition is a common phenomenon in low permeability reservoirs, with potential for significant oil recovery. This study investigated the use of novel silica-based nanofluids as imbibition agents for enhanced oil recovery, showing promising results in improving recovery efficiency. Through measurements of interfacial tension and contact angles, the impact of these nanofluids on oil-NFs system and rock wettability was evaluated.

Improvement of Heavy Oil Recovery by Nonionic Surfactant/Alcohol Flooding in Light of the Alkane Carbon Number and Interfacial Tension Properties

Ahmad Mohamed Alsabagh et al.

Summary: In this work, nonionic surfactants were prepared from waste cooking oil materials and demonstrated promising surface-active properties. The surfactants showed minimum interfacial tension at specific alkane carbon numbers, which was further studied with different alcohols for enhanced oil recovery in chemical flooding processes. Additionally, the results showed that the surfactant derived from palm kernel fatty acids had a higher oil recovery compared to the one obtained from palm fatty acids when used with specific alcohols.
