A simple and efficient method for oxidative coupling of terminal alkynes using imidazol(in)ium aurates as pre-catalysts is reported. It shows high functional group tolerance and leads to a broad range of 1,3-diyne compounds in moderate to excellent yields using low catalyst loading and mild conditions.

This approachdisplays high functional group tolerance and leads to a broad rangeof 1,3-diyne compounds in moderate to excellent yields using lowcatalyst loading and is performed in air under mild and sustainable conditions.
