Communicating supply chain sustainability: transparency and framing effects

Yanji Duan et al.

Summary: This research explores how firms communicate sustainability information to consumers in the context of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) through different framing strategies. The study found that attribute framing should avoid negative valence, and goal framing with consequences stated as avoid loss has the most significant effect. Additionally, framing effects are stronger for consumers with higher environmental involvement.

Consumers care and firms should too: On the benefits of disclosing supplier monitoring activities

Yanji Duan et al.

Summary: This research examines the impact of firm's supplier monitoring activities (SMA) on consumer attitude and purchase intention. The results indicate that consumers have a more positive attitude and higher purchase intention when a firm discloses its supplier monitoring efforts extend to lower-tier suppliers, and when the firm directly monitors its lower-tier suppliers. Greater breadth in supplier monitoring, however, does not lead to more positive consumer attitude or higher purchase intention.

Srikanth Paruchuri et al.

Summary: This study examines audiences' responses to the inter-dimensional incongruence between capability and integrity signals, finding that the salience of positive capability signals aggravates investor reactions to organizational misconduct. Additionally, firm size and level of diversification weaken these negative effects.

However, the impact of these factors on supplier selection varies in practical significance.
