Clinical phenotypes of extrapulmonary sarcoidosis: an analysis of a French, multi-ethnic, multicentre cohort

Raphael Lhote et al.

Summary: The EpiSarc study identified distinct clinical phenotypes of Sarcoidosis based on organ involvement and disease type. These phenotypes differed according to sex, geographical origin, and socioprofessional category. There was a non-random distribution of organ involvement among the different phenotypes.

Elevated Serum Amyloid a Levels Are not Specific for Sarcoidosis but Associate with a Fibrotic Pulmonary Phenotype

Els Beijer et al.

Summary: Elevated levels of Serum Amyloid A (SAA) were found in patients with sarcoidosis, especially those with fibrotic sarcoidosis, and in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). This suggests that SAA may not only be involved in granulomatous processes, but also reflect fibrogenesis. Further studies are needed to clarify the exact role of SAA in fibrosis and the mechanisms involved.

Elevated Neurofilament Light Chain in Cerebrospinal Fluid and Plasma Reflect Inflammatory MRI Activity in Neurosarcoidosis

Keld-Erik Byg et al.

Summary: NFL levels in cerebrospinal fluid and plasma are significantly higher in neurosarcoidosis patients compared to extra-neurologic patients and healthy controls, and the levels correlate to the extent of inflammation on MRI.
