Function-oriented synthesis of fluorescent chemosensor for selective detection of Al3+ in neat aqueous solution: Paperstrip detection & DNA bioimaging

Gokul Ganesan et al.

Summary: Fluorescence-based sensors are widely used for quick response devices in selectively detecting different analytes. A water-soluble derivative of salicylaldehyde was designed for selective detection of aluminum ions in neat aqueous solution. The sensor exhibited high selectivity, sensitivity, and low detection limits, making it suitable for bioimaging and qualitative visual detection of aluminum ions.

Label-free SERS detection of Raman-Inactive protein biomarkers by Raman reporter indicator: Toward ultrasensitivity and universality

Maryam Arabi et al.

Summary: A capillary sensor was developed for ultrasensitive and universal detection of protein biomarkers using an inner SERS substrate layer and an outer imprinted layer. The imprinted cavities selectively captured target proteins and allowed passage of Raman indicator to access the SERS substrate, leading to specific and reproducible detection of trypsin enzyme in biological samples without sample preparation. The platform offers a facile, fast, and general route for sensitive SERS detection of Raman inactive biomacromolecules.

2-Hydroxynaphthalene based acylhydrazone as a turn-on fluorescent chemosensor for Al3+ detection and its real sample applications

Yucun Liu et al.

Summary: The synthesized fluorescent chemosensor showed high selectivity and sensitivity for Al3+, with a detection limit of 4.22 x 10(-8) M and a stability constant of 4.82 x 10(4) M-1. The 1:1 binding stoichiometry of the compound to Al3+ was confirmed from the Job's plot based on fluorescence titrations.

A rhodamine based chemosensor for solvent dependent chromogenic sensing of cobalt (II) and copper (II) ions with good selectivity and sensitivity: Synthesis, filter paper test strip, DFT calculations and cytotoxicity

Wei Chuen Chan et al.

Summary: The newly synthesized chemosensor has the ability to detect Co2+ / Cu2+ ions visually, showing good selectivity and low detection limits, with binding modes determined through various techniques. Additionally, the reversibility of the sensor was tested with EDTA, and low-cost test strips for convenient naked-eye ion detection were fabricated.
