1,3,4-Oxadiazole Bridges: A Strategy to Improve Energetics at the Molecular Level

Jinchao Ma et al.

Summary: A series of 1,3,4-oxadiazole-bridged furazans were synthesized and evaluated for their explosive performance and insensitive properties. The study also considered the impact of introducing 1,3,4-oxadiazole moiety on molecular reactivity and the differences in sensitivities and thermal stabilities of different bridged structures.

Molecular modelling, synthesis and antimicrobial evaluation of benzimidazole nucleoside mimetics

Himani Chaurasia et al.

Summary: A series of novel N-1-(beta-D-ribofuranosyl) benzimidazole derivatives were designed and synthesized as potential antimicrobial agents, showing excellent inhibitory activity against various pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Structurally, less polar and more hydrophobic substituents were found to enhance antibacterial activity, while more polar and hydrophilic substituents favored antifungal activity. This study suggests these compounds may serve as promising candidates for drug development against drug-resistant strains.

Computational study of the binding mode, action mechanism and potency of pregabalin through molecular docking and quantum mechanical descriptors

Lorena Meneses et al.

Summary: This computational study examined the binding mode and high affinity of pregabalin, its inactive isomer (R-pregabalin), and gabapentin when modulating voltage-gated calcium channels. The results indicate that the affinity is governed by the binding pose and the ability to access the pocket, with electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonds playing a key role in determining the high affinity of pregabalin.
