Rapid mechanochemical construction of HKUST-1 with enhancing water stability by hybrid ligands assembly strategy for efficient adsorption of SF6

Ping Liu et al.

Summary: Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is commonly used as an insulating medium for high-voltage electrical equipment. However, its emissions as a greenhouse gas pose a serious environmental threat. Researchers have developed a rapid mechanochemical synthesis method to create a HKUST-1 material that efficiently adsorbs SF6. By doping the material with hybrid ligands, the porosity and water stability of HKUST-1 are retained, while the ability to adsorb SF6 is slightly reduced. The results show that the hybrid ligand-imidazole doped HKUST-1 has superior SF6 adsorption and selectivity compared to most reported SF6 adsorbents.

Separation efficiency and equilibrium recovery ratio of SF6 in hydrate-based greenhouse gas separation

Gyeol Ko et al.

Summary: The feasibility of hydrate-based sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) separation was examined by measuring the three-phase equilibria of SF6 + N-2 hydrates, constructing a pressure-composition diagram, identifying the hydrate type using powder X-ray diffraction, and measuring the dissociation enthalpy with a high-pressure micro-differential scanning calorimeter. Experimental results demonstrated the selective capture of SF6 in the hydrate phase, with the hydrate-based method requiring lower initial concentration and pressure compared to the liquefaction method.

Protic guanidine isothiocyanate plus acetamide deep eutectic solvents with low viscosity for efficient NH3 capture and NH3/CO2 separation

Dongshun Deng et al.

Summary: Deep eutectic solvents (DES) are considered as the second generation ionic liquids with potential applications in gas capture and separation, due to their negligible vapor pressure and abundant formation variation. In this study, DESs with low viscosity were constructed using protic guanidine isothiocyanate and acetamide. The gas solubility was enhanced with increasing molar ratio, pressure, and decreasing temperature, while the solubilities of NH3 and CO2 were correlated by Henry's law. The DESs showed efficient NH3 absorption and selective separation performance.
