Vasudha Vaid et al.

Summary: This study developed an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and efficient adsorbent using a cross-linked 3-D network hydrogel based on kappa-carrageenan (KCG) and tamarind kernel powder (TKP). The hydrogel exhibited a high adsorption capacity for the removal of brilliant green (BG) and rose bengal (RB) dyes from wastewater. The adsorption capacity was influenced by parameters such as dye concentration, pH, temperature, and adsorbent amount. The kinetic, isotherm, and thermodynamic studies showed that the hydrogel followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and the Langmuir isotherm model.

Summary: By fabricating a novel stimuli-responsive polymer based on P(SPEA-co-GMA) and grafting it onto the surface of modified TiO2, the limitations of traditional methods for metal ion recognition, such as expensiveness and the need for advanced equipment, have been effectively addressed. Through a series of analysis and testing, it was demonstrated that the TiO2-g-P(SPEA-co-GMA) nanocomposite possesses improved thermal stability, optical properties, and dispersion. Furthermore, the polymer can selectively complex with Zn2+ cations in the solid state, exhibiting good fatigue resistance. Overall, the fabricated optical/chemical-responsive polymer shows great potential in the field of sensors due to its portability, high detection speed, and relatively low price.
