clinker & clustermap.js: automatic generation of gene cluster comparison figures

Cameron L. M. Gilchrist et al.

Summary: Genes involved in biological pathways are often found in gene clusters, and comparing these clusters can provide valuable insights into their function and evolutionary history. To simplify the tedious process of comparing and visualizing gene cluster similarity, a Python tool called clinker and a companion JavaScript library called clustermap.js have been developed to automatically generate accurate, interactive, publication-quality gene cluster comparison figures from sequence files.

Molecular characterisation of the first New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1-producing Acinetobacter baumannii from Tanzania

Sabrina J. Moyo et al.

Summary: This study reported the first New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase-producing isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii from Tanzania. The two isolates harbored blaNDM-1 gene, highlighting the importance of ISAba125 in the spread of blaNDM-1 in A. baumannii.

Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli ST405 Isolate Coharboring blaNDM-5 and blaCTXM-15: A New Threat in Mozambique

Jose Joao Sumbana et al.

Summary: The study investigated the phenotypic and genotypic features of the first NDM-5 carbapenemase-producing ExPEC strain isolated from a patient in Mozambique, highlighting the importance of understanding antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and virulence genes in combating the spread of resistant pathogens. The emergence of NDM-5 carbapenemase in a pandemic ST405-D-O102:H6 clone in Mozambique underscores the urgent need for enhanced antimicrobial surveillance and the implementation of carbapenemase detection tests in diagnostic laboratories in the country.
