How to achieve complete elimination of Cl-VOCs: A critical review on byproducts formation and inhibition strategies during catalytic oxidation

Fawei Lin et al.

Summary: This review examines the formation of byproducts in the catalytic oxidation of Cl-VOCs, with a focus on the potential risks posed by polychlorinated byproducts. Strategies to inhibit byproducts formation are explored, with an emphasis on the need to develop catalysts for the efficient and complete elimination of Cl-VOCs. Further research is needed to understand the migration and evolution routes of Cl species and design catalysts to achieve truly complete elimination of Cl-VOCs without secondary pollution.

Biotransformation of 4-Hydroxybenzoic Acid under Nitrate-Reducing Conditions in a MEC Bioanode

Siyuan Zhai et al.

Summary: This study systematically assessed the biotransformation of 4-Hydroxybenzoic acid (HBA) in a microbial electrolysis cell (MEC) for the production of renewable H-2. The findings showed that in the absence of nitrate, most HBA was converted to phenol, while under nitrate-reducing conditions, complete degradation of HBA to H-2 was achieved. The predominant bacteria involved in this process were Magnetospirillum and Geobacter, contributing to the successful bioelectrochemical conversion of HBA.

Catalytic removal of NO and chlorobenzene over Ce-Mn-W-Zr-Ox/TiO2: Performance study of hollow spheres effect

Qijie Jin et al.

Summary: The study investigates the influence of the coexistence of anatase and rutile phases in hollow structure catalyst on catalytic performance. The hollow structure accelerates activation of reaction molecules and gas molecules adsorption on catalyst surface, promoting the progress of reaction. CMWZ/H-TiO2 shows excellent performance in co-catalytic removal of NO and chlorobenzene due to its outstanding redox performance and fast oxygen migration ability.

Multipollutant Control (MPC) of Flue Gas from Stationary Sources Using SCR Technology: A Critical Review

Dong Wang et al.

Summary: The emission of gaseous pollutants from fossil fuel combustion poses a serious environmental challenge, with the use of SCR systems to convert pollutants into harmless substances highlighted as a practical approach. However, developing catalysts suitable for large-scale commercialization remains challenging, and the efficiency of simultaneous elimination depends on catalyst composition and flue gas parameters.

Selective catalytic reduction of NO over W-Zr-Ox/TiO2: performance study of hierarchical pore structure

Qijie Jin et al.

Summary: The W-Zr-O-x/TiO2 catalysts with hierarchical pore structure, especially the 5C-WZ/T, showed high catalytic activity and resistance to water and sulfur poisoning. The hierarchical pore structure improved specific surface area, redox performance, and acid quantity, leading to exposure of more active sites and enhanced catalytic performance. The NH3-SCR reaction over 5C-WZ/T catalyst followed L-H and E-R mechanisms involving various reaction intermediates.

Key intermediates from simultaneous removal of NOx and chlorobenzene over a V2O5-WO3/TiO2 catalyst: a combined experimental and DFT study

Chuan Gao et al.

Summary: The simultaneous elimination of NOx and dioxins in a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) converter has been proven to be effective for multipollutant control in stationary emissions. However, the lack of understanding of the complex interaction mechanism between SCR reactions and catalytic oxidation remains a challenge. This study uses chlorobenzene (CB) as a model molecule to investigate the interaction mechanism and key intermediates over a V2O5-WO3/TiO2 catalyst, revealing that CB enhances the reducibility of V oxides and suppresses the formation of active cis-N2O22-, ultimately improving SCR efficiency.
