In this study, Cu and Ce were added to commercial V-W-Ti catalysts to enhance the activities of NH3 oxidation and NH3-SCR. The addition of Ce reduced the detrimental effects of H2O and SO2 and increased the surface active oxygen. Furthermore, loaded Ce and Cu improved the surface acidity and redox property of SCR catalysts.
Commercial V-W-Ti catalysts were modified with Cu and different contents of Ce to remove slip ammonia and remaining nitrogen oxide from the end stage of SCR technology. The activities of NH3 oxidation by O-2 (NH3-SCO) and NO reduction by NH3 (NH3-SCR) of these catalysts were examined from 150 to 400 celcius. The consequences indicated that the addition of Ce and Cu could considerably enhance NH3 oxidation and NO reduction capacity of the catalysts and Ce was conducive to reduce the detrimental effects of H2O and SO2. The characterization tests indicated that the surface active oxygen increased because of the interaction between V, Cu and Ce. Moreover, the loaded Ce and Cu contributed to enhance the surface acidity and redox property of SCR catalysts. (C) 2021 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry.
